So, What Exactly is Cruise IMO Certification?

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) sets the bar for fire safety on passenger vessels through their FTP Code–International Code for Application of Fire Test Procedures. Think of it as the gold standard for materials heading out to sea.

IMO 2010 FTP Code Part 8 - The primary purpose of this standard is to assess the ignitability of an entire upholstered seating arrangement (the combination of cover fabric and internal filling materials) when exposed to specific ignition sources.

Two tests that cover flammability for upholstered furniture:
IMO 2010 FTP Code Part 8.2 - a flammability test that uses a smoldering cigarette to assess the ignitability of upholstered furniture material combinations (cover and filling) for use on commercial vessels in international waters.

IMO 2010 FTP Code Part 8.3 - a flammability test that uses a match flame equivalent that measures the ignitability of upholstered furniture material combinations (cover and filling) for use on commercial vessels in international waters.
